Sermon Title: The Coming of False World Peace
Sermon Text: Revelation 6:1-2
Sermon Purpose: To call the hearer to rescue their fellow man from the coming false world peace.
Sermon Proposition: There are 7 significant symbols related to future false world peace.
I. The significance of the Lamb in relationship to false world peace. V.1a (1 Thess 4:13-18);
Rev 5:1-7; Matt 24:37-38; 2 Thess 2:13-17)
Christ received from God the Father a scroll sealed with seven seals to only be opened by One with authority to do so. The Book of Destiny is given to Christ and the seals are opened first before the book is.
Luke 21:34 " But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 "For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
II. The significance of the seals in relationship to false world peace. V.1b
The 1st 4 seals cover the period that Jesus describes in Matthew 24:8 "All these are the beginning of sorrows.” as “the beginning of birth pangs.” The scene now shifts from heaven to earth from now through Chapter 19. The scroll contains the title deed to the earth. This title deed includes details of how Christ will execute His reclaiming of what is rightfully His. Each of the seven seals represent a specific divine judgment that will be passed out sequentially upon the earth.
III. The significance of the white house in relationship to false world peace. V.2a (Job)
Revelation 19:11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
Proverbs 21:31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But deliverance is of the LORD.
Isaiah 43:17 Who brings forth the chariot and horse, The army and the power (They shall lie down together, they shall not rise; They are extinguished, they are quenched like a wick):
Jeremiah 6:23 They will lay hold on bow and spear; They are cruel and have no mercy; Their voice roars like the sea; And they ride on horses, As men of war set in array against you, O daughter of Zion."
IV. The significance of the rider in relationship to false world peace. V.2b
Some seeing a parallel with 19:11, identify the one who sat on the white horse as Christ. But since Christ opens the sealed scroll, He cannot be the rider. Further some identify the rider as the anti-Christ. But since the other riders represent not individual persons but impersonal forces (war, famine, and death). The 1st rider is best viewed as worldwide peace. However, the anti-Christ, as we will see, will play a leading role in promoting this worldwide obsession with seeking peace.
2 Thessalonians 2:1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition,
V. The significance of the bow in relationship to false world peace. V.2c
The rider has a bow , no arrows, and was honored with a crown that was freely given to Him, this reveals that his conquering will involve bloodless victories.
VI. The significance of the crown in relationship to false world peace. V.2d
VII. The significance of the conquering in relationship to false world peace. V.2e
